The Infinitee™ certification mark is a registered certification trade mark, not a self-declared claim. It is registered at the UK Intellectual Property Office (2024) and the EU Intellectual Property Office (2026), with protection across the UK and all 27 EU member states. The fact it’s registered matters, legally and practically. This section sets out how the scheme is governed, who verifies it, and where to find the documentation that underpins it.
What the mark certifies, and what it does not.
The Infinitee™ mark certifies that a garment is designed to be recycled fibre-to-fibre at industrial scale. It does not certify that the garment has been or will be recycled, that it is made from recycled material, or that it carries any particular carbon, water or chemical footprint. Certification is garment-specific and does not extend to a brand's wider operations.
How certification works
The Infinitee™ mark can only be issued by CTF. To receive it, a product must be assessed against a defined standard and found to comply. CTF does not set that standard, it is set by the fibre-to-fibre recyclers that CTF works with, based on the real-world requirements of what can and cannot be recycled at industrial scale. CTF's role is to check that products meet it.
This structure makes the Infinitee™ mark an independent third-party certification. The brand makes the product. The recycling industry sets the standard. For EU-bound certification, an independent accredited test house tests samples and verifies brands’ compositional data, applies its own accredited methods and reaches its own verification conclusions. CTF checks compliance and issues the mark. No single party controls the process end to end.

Compliance with UK and EU green claims requirements
The Infinitee™ scheme was designed to meet the expectations set out in the UK Competition and Markets Authority's Green Claims Code and the requirements of Part 4 of the Digital Markets, Competition and Consumers Act 2024. It is also built to meet the conditions for certification schemes under the EU's Empowering Consumers for the Green Transition Directive (ECGT), in force from 27 September 2026.
UK compliance
Claims attached to a certification mark should be based on criteria that are publicly available, objectively defined, and verified by a body independent of the brand making the claim. The Infinitee™ certification scheme is built on that basis. The criteria are set by the recycling industry, not by brands or by CTF, and are documented in the scheme's published standard. Assessment is carried out by CTF as the certifying body, independent of the brands being assessed. CTF’s fees are not contingent on whether a specific product passes or fails.
EU compliance
The ECGT applies to products sold into the EU market, setting requirements for the environmental claims made about them. A sustainability label may only be displayed if it is established by a public authority or based on a certification scheme meeting defined conditions, including publicly available criteria and monitoring of compliance by a third party independent of both the brand and the scheme owner. For EU-bound certification that verification is provided by Testex AG, an independent accredited test house, which applies its own accredited methods and reaches its own verification conclusions. Certification on the UK route alone does not include this layer, so a garment intended for the EU market must be certified on the EU route. Details of the verification process for EU-specific requirements can be found here.

Certified products
Every certified garment carries the Infinitee™ certification mark and a QR code. This QR code links to the Proprietor’s website and contains information about the certified characteristics of the product. The verification data behind each certification is held by CTF and is available to regulators on request.
The Infinitee™ mark may only be applied to garments CTF has certified. Displaying a trust or quality mark without the necessary authorisation is a banned practice under UK consumer protection law. If you believe the mark is being used on an uncertified product, you can tell us at info@thectf.co.uk.
